When it is used, it affects the amount of certain pleasure-inducing chemicals in the brain. It stimulates the structure that releases these chemicals and increases the amount circulating through the brain.

The brain already produces naturally occurring opioids called endogenous opioids. Morphine binds to these receptors and reduces the excitability of neurons, essentially blocking all sensation and creating the euphoria. Regardless of the type of environment, someone comes from within New York State. An addiction can happen quite easily and will progressively become worse over time.
