Nantucket is a county that is located in the state of Massachusetts. Home to an estimated population of more than 11,000 people as of 2019 according to the United States Census Bureau, Nantucket is one of the smaller counties in the state. But being small does not mean that the effects of America’s drug Epidemic haven’t been felt since it began in the early 2000s, particularly when it comes to rates of drug addiction and overdose. In 2019 there were 29.3 drug deaths for every 100,000 residents of the state according to a report published by America’s Health Rankings, a rate that shows exactly how many people are not getting the help that they need when it comes to drug and alcohol rehabilitation and detox services. Every single drug death was a life that could have been saved if the person had gotten the right kind of help for their needs at the right point in their life. But so many people never make it into treatment before their life is lost to drugs. This is because it is not uncommon for the person to accidentally overdose before they were ever ready to get help. This is why you must never ignore signs of drug use in a loved one. You must act before it is too late to help them. Never listen to advice about how they must be ready. This is dangerous advice that has cost many lives that could have been saved.
