Long-Term Drug Rehab in Nebraska

Although all types of treatment can be successful, it is our professional opinion at DRS that a long-term treatment program is the most effective approach – here are some reasons why:

  • A long-term program can last anywhere from 1 to 3 months and even longer, depending on the needs of each person.
  • Since the person lives at the facility, they spend every waking moment focusing on overcoming their addiction, which offers a more intensive routine and removes any other distractions or triggers.
  • Most long-term programs offer individual and family counseling, ensuring that all dynamics are addressed during the treatment program.
  • The length of the program is also beneficial in that it can help a person work on themselves and develop new ways to cope and avoid relapsing once they leave.

With all these choices available, anyone can get the help they need to overcome their addiction to drugs or alcohol with a long-term program, no matter who they are or what they are dealing with personally or financially. If you are looking to get yourself or a loved one into treatment in Nebraska, do not hesitate to contact one of our specialists or to look through our directory above.

Getting Help With Substance Use: The Basics

Paying for Treatment in Nebraska

A major concern when enrolling in a drug treatment program is the costs associated with the services. Some programs are state-funded or government-funded, while others offer private pay programs. Different types of health insurance providers and programs will also work together to cover some or all of the cost of treatment depending on the type of insurance and the policy. As addiction rates have increased throughout the nation, so have the options for treatment and financial support.

Paying for Treatment with Medicaid in Nebraska

The state of Nebraska waited until 2020 and a passed voter ballot requiring it to accept federal funding to expand Medicaid.  With numerous programs accepting Medicaid in Nebraska, there is a wide range of options for drug users; however, these programs can often have a wait list before enrolling.

Using Private Insurance to pay for Drug Rehab in Nebraska

Aside from Medicaid covering treatment costs, private health insurance can also offset some of the costs of drug and alcohol treatment programs. Depending on the type of health insurance policy, quite a large portion of the expenses can be covered with little out-of-pocket costs for the addict or their family. Private health insurance companies tend to work with higher-quality programs; therefore, if you have private health insurance, you may be able to access better options for treatment. The policyholder can contact the insurance company to find exactly what programs are covered in Nebraska and what expenses if any, should be expected.

According to the Nebraska Health Insurance Marketplace 2023 Guide, the following insurers are available in Nebraska:

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska
  • Medica
  • Oscar
  • Ambetter for Nebraska Total Care

Paying for Treatment when Uninsured

Medicaid and private health insurance policies can offer some of the best financial support when searching for drug and alcohol treatment services; not everyone has health insurance. When the drug user is searching for treatment, enrolling in a health insurance plan might not be an option due to the severity of the addiction, the qualifications, etc. Sliding scale programs are available in the state of Nebraska, where the program’s cost depends on your income, breaking the cost up into payments. For those experiencing homelessness, there is one program in Nebraska offering treatment, clothing, and long-term care.

DRS’ Evaluation of Nebraska

Nebraska has a well-rounded selection of substance use treatment programs, including long-term options. However, many residents are frustrated with long wait times and an increased demand that does not meet the number of beds available. Our experts recommend contacting more than one program and even putting your name on a waitlist if needed. It is a good idea to keep multiple options open.

On a positive note, most of the treatment centers in the state accept Medicaid or other health insurance making most options affordable. We recommend contacting each facility and asking about payment options. Also, contact your Medicaid office or health insurance provider to find out what precisely what is covered.

Withdrawal and the fear of going through it is one biggest reason why an addict continues to use and can be the most difficult part of the rehabilitation process. His experience in the withdrawal atmosphere has taught him that regardless of what approach a person takes to get off drugs, there are always mental and emotional obstacles that need to be overcome.
