You can find multiple drug and alcohol treatment centers and detox programs in Connecticut and some may offer within their program a non-12-step option. Non-twelve step recovery programs are centers that do not offer twelve-step methodologies of treatment, but rather other forms such as learning-based programs, cognitive treatment, or even holistic approaches. Much of this is normally the non-disease model of addiction treatment, and does still provide the necessary counseling and support, but not centered around the 12-step model.

Are non-twelve-step programs extensively used throughout the United States?

Yes, these types of drug rehabilitation programs are extensively used all throughout the United States, and in fact, if an addict has made several attempts at a 12-step program before, these would be a better option. Non-twelve step programs are both private facilities and government-funded services, and across the United States are inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services. All drug addicts go through a distinctive experience than the next, and non-twelve step drug treatment methodologies offer a different approach than a traditional 12-step program.
