Finding the right kind of help for a drug or alcohol addiction can sometimes be a very tedious task, especially when things have gotten quite bad. Finding treatment should be quick and easy, particularly when getting admitted into the program.

With most if not all 28-day drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers the addict will live at the facility for a period of 28 days, unless specified otherwise. During this time, it is important for them to participate in all the activities and treatment laid out for them so as they can beat their current addiction. Many addicts do see success from attending a 28-day short term rehab center and go on to live a drug-free life. These programs are excellent stepping stones for addicts wanting to make a positive change in his or her life.

Some of these facilities will offer family support and care to help an addicts loved ones through treatment.

What is a family intervention?

A family intervention provides the opportunity for an unwilling addict to get the help they need. The intervention helps the addict understand the importance of receiving help, and can convince them to attend a short-term drug and alcohol treatment program. A family intervention is usually a last resort, but it can be quite successful in helping an addict turn his or her life around.
