Puerto Rico Hospital Inpatient Services for Alcohol and Drug Abuse

Hospital inpatient services are primarily residential programs that help treat substance abuse and co-occurring mental-health problems. Within Puerto Rico, addicts and their families can access hospital inpatient programs, which operate out of hospitals and local clinics. These programs are slightly different from a typical inpatient or outpatient treatment center because of the 24-hour continuous medical monitoring. Hospital inpatient centers will benefit addicts who are struggling with dangerous withdrawals such as from alcohol or opioids. These programs will also benefit patients who are looking for duel diagnosis programs. The length of treatment that a patient will require at a hospital inpatient program will depend on how severe the drug and alcohol addiction is, if there are any co-occurring psychological health issues, and if the patient has ever been to a drug rehab program in the past. Drug and alcohol addiction is a problem that many people struggle with all across Puerto Rico, but with the right help, an addict can overcome these dangerous and deadly addictions.

Partial Hospitalization Programs for Substance Abuse in Puerto Rico

Partial hospitalization programs that are available in Puerto Rico will provide many of the same components of treatment that would be found at a full-time inpatient program throughout the territory. Partial hospitalization services are intensive outpatient programs, and the patient will be required to attend treatment daily, while returning home in the evening. This will mean that the addict will go through up to eight hours of treatment each day for five to seven days per week for a pre-determined length of time. Partial hospitalization services are not for everyone but can be a great treatment option to attend after already completing some form of residential rehabilitation. Typically, at a partial hospitalization program in Puerto Rico, there will be more medical staff on site than what would normally be at a common outpatient center, and this is because these programs are often operated out of clinics and hospitals.
