Frequently Asked Questions

Should you seek treatment in Anniston, or look further away?

Anniston is better equipped than most towns its size, and the most important piece is that hospital based withdrawal care is right here. If you are coming off alcohol or opioids, that is the dangerous first step, and here you do not have to drive for it. Plan around the local long term program, which has good life skills and vocational programming. It may not do withdrawal management on site, so get through withdrawal at the hospital first, then move into the bed. I like that vocational piece. A lot of people used because they were missing the skills to handle life, and a program that rebuilds those is doing real recovery, not just drying someone out. The neighboring town adds a few more options. For most people around Anniston a local plan works. The one person I would send out is the guy for whom the town itself, the same people and places, keeps pulling him back. For him even that good vocational program ends the day he walks back into it.
