Frequently Asked Questions

Should you seek treatment in Baldwin County, or look further away?

Detox is not treatment. It is getting the drugs out so the real work can start, and you cannot do that part in Baldwin County. Coming off alcohol, benzos or opioids safely means going outside the county first. Handle that on its own. The program that comes after is the real question. What sits close to home is thin, and it is nearly all one kind, long-term faith-based residential. For the right person that works really well. But when there is only one kind of thing near you, a guy walks into it because it is there, not because it fits him, and that is how people quit in the second week. Mobile is twenty minutes west and is more clinical. Those twenty minutes are nothing. You get out of the place you were using in and you get a real choice instead of the only choice, both at once. For someone who needs clinical, staying in the county to save that little drive is what costs him the program.
