Green Oak Ranch is a long-term, residential recovery program in Vista, San Diego County, California rooted in a Christian, faith-inspired community where adults, primarily men, whose alcohol or drug use has begun disrupting housing, work, relationships, or stability come to live, do recovery work, and build new habits over time. Set on a large, rustic ranch property, the program isn’t a brief outpatient touchpoint; it’s a 9-month residential experience that asks people to slow down enough to see how their behavior has really shown up in their lives and to begin changing it in the daily context of community and faith.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should you seek treatment in Carlsbad, or look further away?

Carlsbad itself is light on treatment, but it sits in a cluster of North County towns, the nearest just a few miles out, and between them you have live in programs and lighter daily support. Getting to care is not the issue. Withdrawal is what you have to get right. Some local live in programs offer only monitored rest without medical oversight, and that is not safe for alcohol or benzo withdrawal, which can cause seizures. If you are physically dependent on either, arrange medically supervised withdrawal through a hospital or a medical provider before you enter a live in program. Stimulant withdrawal is mostly a hard psychological crash, not a medical emergency. Once that first step is handled, go with a live in program if home is not stable or lighter daily support has not held. Take lighter daily support only if you have a really safe place to live. For someone whose using runs with the North County coast scene, a few miles up the road is not distance. I would go well past the cluster, not to the next beach town.
