Frequently Asked Questions

Should you seek treatment in Boone County, or look further away?

For someone in Boone County without much income or insurance, there is a local resource you should know about. It is a long-term program running several months to about a year, for people who are homeless or low-income, at little or no cost. If that is your situation, that is a real door, and those are not easy to find. It does not handle withdrawal on site, so medically managed withdrawal happens at a hospital first, which for alcohol or benzos is not optional. For a fuller clinical continuum, Erlanger is only about eleven miles and takes Kentucky Medicaid, so you can stay in-state and covered. Cincinnati is close too, with free programs, but it is in Ohio and your Kentucky Medicaid will not cross that line. If you are on Medicaid, lean toward Erlanger and stay covered. Do not build a plan around a Cincinnati bed until you have confirmed who is paying for it. The money question settles this one more than the mileage.
