Frequently Asked Questions

Should you seek treatment in Covington, or look further away?

Covington sits right across the Ohio River from Cincinnati, so a full range of care is a short drive, 5 to 9 miles into Cincinnati, or closer in nearby suburbs. That access is good. The trap is at the river. Kentucky Medicaid typically will not cover Ohio providers, so if you are looking at a program across the bridge in Cincinnati, call ahead and confirm your coverage before you count on it. For alcohol or opioids, medically supervised withdrawal care is the first step either way, and you do not skip it. There are also low cost and live in programs on the Kentucky side, some free. A plan comes together across the river. A few miles across a metro is not real distance from your environment. For someone the Cincinnati and Covington scene keeps pulling back, I would look well beyond it for the live in stay, not just over the bridge.
