Frequently Asked Questions

Should you seek treatment in Hyattsville, or look further away?

Hyattsville has a large Spanish speaking population, and the bilingual programs are what matter most. Doing recovery in your own language instead of struggling through a second one is often what makes it land. There is lighter daily support and live in programs locally, with a dense cluster of DC metro options 4 to 9 miles out and withdrawal care and live in programs in DC itself. One trap is that Maryland Medicaid does not automatically cover DC programs, so verify coverage before you enroll across the line. For alcohol or opioids, medically supervised withdrawal is the first step, through a hospital or the SAMHSA line, and it is thin in the local cluster. A plan comes together across the metro. For a place this close to DC, a few miles is not real distance from your environment. For someone the scene keeps pulling back, I would look well beyond it for the live in stay.
