Frequently Asked Questions

Should you seek treatment in Lincoln County, or look further away?

Lincoln County runs along the coast on Highway 101, and what is local is counseling with transitional housing, for adults, teens and families. For someone stable in his coastal community, that plus the transitional housing can hold him through early recovery without leaving. For medical withdrawal care and longer programs there is nothing local, so you head inland toward Corvallis or the Shedd area, about thirty-two to forty-one miles. A local hospital handles an urgent alcohol or benzo withdrawal, since those are dangerous to stop alone. Longer-term programs, including those covering family situations, and long-term faith-based programs are over that way. There is a quiet upside. If the coast and its scene are tied to your using, heading inland for a program gives you the distance that helps recovery stick. Use the local counseling and the transitional housing for what they cover. When you need a bed, those forty miles inland are the first forty miles between you and the life you used in.
