Rhode Island Long-Term Drug Rehab

We believe that when it comes to overcoming an addiction to alcohol and drugs, the most effective option is long-term rehab. Here are a few reasons why:

  • It offers the proper support and guidance a person needs to address all aspects of their addiction.
  • The treatment facilities are situated in remote locations and away from any trigger or distraction.
  • Clients are provided with the tools and knowledge needed to cope and handle everyday life without using drugs or alcohol.
  • For an addiction to alcohol and opioids, long-term treatment is recommended, as such substances can become extremely addictive.

Getting Help With Substance Use: The Basics

Paying for Treatment in Rhode Island

Substance use treatment programs can successfully help drug and alcohol users end their addiction. Unfortunately, these programs can range in price, with some of the more successful programs being costly. With the help of a health insurance policy and other financial support, treatment is more affordable for many individuals. Whether you are insured or uninsured, drug rehab services are beneficial to anyone struggling with a substance use problem of any kind.

Paying for Treatment with Medicaid in Rhode Island

Rhode Island has some of the lowest uninsured rates in the nation due to the expansion of Medicaid throughout the state. With Medicaid coverage and the expansions, more residents have been able to enroll in Medicaid, which has expanded their ability to receive care for drug addiction. Medicaid will only work with certain programs but will cover all or most of the treatment costs to ensure that patients can end their substance use problem once and for all. These expansions have allowed more Rhode Island residents to seek out the treatment they desperately need.

Using Private Insurance to Pay for Drug Rehab in Rhode Island

A private health insurance policy is another way to afford drug or alcohol rehab services, as all private health insurance providers must cover all basic drug recovery services. These providers work with reputable programs, ensuring that each client has the opportunity for some of the best care. Not every rehab program in your area will accept your specific health insurance, making it necessary to understand your health insurance policy and benefits.

According to the Rhode Island Health Insurance Marketplace Guide 2023, the following insurers are available in Rhode Island:

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island
  • Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island

Paying for Treatment When Uninsured

Health insurance is undoubtedly the best way to try and afford drug rehab programs; however, the nation, Rhode Island included, still has a percentage of uninsured residents. Drug rehab programs now offer different forms of financial support to help those who do not have health insurance still be able to afford drug treatment. A sliding scale fee is one of the ways that programs have begun working with patients and calculating the cost based on the client’s income. Another option is a cash-pay program that allows patients without insurance to receive treatment. Usually, these programs also allow payment plans so that the cost can be split up over time.

DRS’ Evaluation of Rhode Island Drug Rehabs

Rhode Island is lacking in the number of substance use treatment providers available. Most of the programs are private non-profit facilities, with none operated at the state or local level. Our experts recommend exploring what is available and considering looking out of state.

On a positive note, most of the programs accept Medicaid, private health insurance, or a state-financed health insurance plan other than Medicaid. However, less than half of programs provide a sliding fee scale or treatment at no charge or minimal payment. This can present a barrier for someone with no health insurance. We recommend contacting these programs first, finding out what payment options are offered, and going on any wait list if required.

His experience includes working with families during their loved one’s stay in treatment, helping those with substance abuse issues find treatment, and teaching life skills to patients in a recovery atmosphere. Though he has worked in many different areas of rehabilitation, the majority of his time was spent working one on one with patients who were actively withdrawing from drugs. Withdrawal and the fear of going through it is one biggest reason why an addict continues to use and can be the most difficult part of the rehabilitation process. His experience in the withdrawal atmosphere has taught him that regardless of what approach a person takes to get off drugs, there are always mental and emotional obstacles that need to be overcome. He believes having someone there to help a person through these obstacles can make all the difference during the withdrawal process.
