Rockingham County is a county which is located in the state of Virginia. Home to a population of around 81,000 people as estimated by the United States Census Bureau as of 2019, Rockingham County is one of the smaller counties in the state. But this doesn't mean that the area doesn't share some of the same issues that more populated areas do. America's drug epidemic does not discriminate and hasn't since it started in the early 2000s. From 2016 to 2017 there were 18 drug deaths in Rockingham County according to a report published by County Health Rankings and Roadmaps, a total which is 18 more people than it should be. These deaths are only the tip of the iceberg when illustrating how many people are not getting the help that they need from drug and alcohol rehabilitation and detox services. Each drug death could have been prevented with proper treatment before it was too late. But so many people accidentally overdose before ever being ready to get help, which is why you should never ignore signs of drug use or wait for them to be ready. They may never be ready before it is too late. No one wants to regret not doing everything possible to save a life, which is exactly why intervention services exist. These may not be as successful as when someone goes to treatment on their own accord, but they are certainly more successful than doing nothing.
