St. Martin Parish is part of the Lafayette, Louisiana statistical area, and in 2018 the population was over 53,500 people. The largest city in the parish is Breaux Bridge, yet the parish seat is the city of St. Martinville. When addicts or families begin to search for addiction treatment programs, there are options to consider within the parish and throughout the state. An addiction assessment is a good place to being, and this would help determine the extent of addiction and what programs are available. The first step with rehabilitation is detox, and this is crucial when managing withdrawal symptoms and cravings. Detoxification options include inpatient medically supervised detox and withdrawal management and or conventional detox. Typically, the severity of addiction and accompanying withdrawal symptoms determines what method of detox is needed.

Following detox, the next step with treatment involves attending inpatient or outpatient drug rehab. Residential drug treatment centers are excellent options because more services, such as counseling, therapy, and relapse prevention, are offered. Short-term drug rehab usually lasts three to six weeks, which is brief but intensive. Long-term drug treatment programs provide services for three to six months or more. Lengthier treatment is an excellent option for someone who has a long history of drug abuse and relapse. Aftercare treatment is also recommended, which involves sober living homes, 12-step meetings, and other forms of peer support. An outpatient drug rehab is a common option because the programs are accessible and affordable. However, it does require significant commitment because the person is not living at the facility.
