Long Term Inpatient Rehab San Diego

The professional opinion of DRS is that long-term treatment has proven to be the most effective for rehabilitation and life-long sobriety—here are some reasons why:

  • Addiction did not happen in a day. Long-term drug rehab in San Diego provides the best opportunities and time to overcome any addiction.
  • Withdrawal symptoms are often ongoing. Detoxification programs are generally part of long-term facilities. More time is spent managing withdrawal.
  • Some individuals have lost their homes because of drug use. Long-term residential treatment provides ample time to rebuild.

TIPS: If you feel you're going to use

  • Find a peer support group: California 12-step meetings and other resources through the DRS directory.
  • Stay active and distracted—California offers a diverse landscape to explore and endless community events.
  • Access counseling through the Department of Healthcare Services or contact California 2-1-1.
  • Find an activity—there is no shortage of fulfilling experiences and activities in California.
  • Avoid risky situations. Fentanyl and opioids remain the biggest drug threat in the state.

TIPS: If you want to help someone

  • Find local help through the Department of Healthcare Services.
  • Be aware of overdose risks—resources available through California Overdose Prevention Network and Overdose Prevention Initiative with the CDPH.
  • Assessment and screening are available through the Department of Healthcare Services.
  • Organize a family intervention with the help of a professional interventionist.
  • Avoid enabling the individual who is addicted to drugs or alcohol.

Paying for Treatment in San Diego, California

Paying for drug and alcohol treatment in San Diego varies and depends on multiple factors. Initially, there are significant differences in costs between residential and outpatient substance use treatment. In addition, Medicaid and private health insurance also change the cost of treatment. Finally, the program length changes the cost. For example, long-term treatment generally costs more than short-term programs.

Paying for Treatment with Medicaid in San Diego

California Medicaid covers different forms of substance use treatment. Generally, this includes outpatient facilities, detox centers, and some residential drug rehab programs. Medicaid is designed to help families and people from low-income households. When you enter a treatment center through Medicaid, the payment is made directly to the facility.

Using Private Insurance to pay for Drug Rehab in San Diego

Private health insurance is another option to consider when paying for drug and alcohol rehab. The extent of coverage is dependent on the health plan type. Most people with private health insurance receive it through their employer.

The insurance provider has specific criteria and provides resources within their network or out of their network. Coverage may include residential drug rehab, outpatient treatment, detox, and different forms of counseling. It is best to contact your health insurance provider or the drug rehab center directly.

California’s state-run exchange, Covered California, is established under the Affordable Care Act. The following insurers offer marketplace coverage in California:

  • Aetna CVS Health
  • Anthem Blue Cross of California
  • Blue Shield of California
  • Chinese Community Health Plan
  • Health Net
  • Kaiser Permanente
  • L.A. Care Health Plan
  • Molina Healthcare
  • Oscar Health Plan of California
  • Sharp Health Plan
  • Valley Health Plan
  • Western Health Advantage

Paying for treatment when uninsured

Paying for drug and alcohol rehab without health insurance poses some challenges. However, it is not uncommon for some substance use treatment centers to offer payment plans or sliding fee scales based on income. In addition, some programs offer free or discounted services.

Contact one of our qualified addiction professionals for more details, or contact the drug rehab center directly for more information on paying for treatment.

He spent his career working under the board-certified Addictionologist Dr. Rohit Adi. His experience includes working with families during their loved one’s stay in treatment, helping those with substance abuse issues find treatment, and teaching life skills to patients in a recovery atmosphere. Though he has worked in many different areas of rehabilitation, the majority of his time was spent working one on one with patients who were actively withdrawing from drugs. Withdrawal and the fear of going through it is one biggest reason why an addict continues to use and can be the most difficult part of the rehabilitation process. His experience in the withdrawal atmosphere has taught him that regardless of what approach a person takes to get off drugs, there are always mental and emotional obstacles that need to be overcome. He believes having someone there to help a person through these obstacles can make all the difference during the withdrawal process.
