Santa Cruz is a county that is located in the state of Arizona. Home to an estimated population of around 46,000 people as of 2019 according to the United States Census Bureau, Santa Cruz is one of the smaller counties in the state. But even being sparsely populated hasn’t spared Santa Cruz county from the consequences of America’s drug epidemic, something which has been a major issue for many areas since America’s drug epidemic began in the early 2000s. From 2015 to 2017 there were 19 drug deaths in Santa Cruz county according to a report published by County Health Rankings and Roadmaps. This shows how many people are not getting the help that they need when it comes to drug and alcohol rehabilitation and detox services. But this is not necessarily a failure of treatment centers, as many people who lose their life to drugs never made it into treatment before the tragedy occurred. Treatment centers and detoxes can exist but if they are not used, we will continue to have problems with addiction. In early addiction, this can be common because the person may accidentally overdose before they were ever ready to get help. Drug addiction can be deceptive, and they may believe that they do not have a problem yet, or that they can quit whenever they want. This is why you must never ignore signs of drug use in a loved one. Act before it is too late.
