Drug Treatment Facilities in Scott County, Virginia

Last updated: 21 December 2021

Scott County's county seat is Gate City, and together they have definitely struggled with the consequences of alcohol and drug abuse for several years. It has to be taken very seriously, because it has caused an enormous amount of damage in the community, and it is still present to this day, which the next statistics will prove. First, let's look at excessive drinking, as County Health Rankings found that 16% of the county's adult population reported either binge or heavy drinking. It also has led to fatalities in the last years, with 3 alcohol-impaired driving deaths between 2014 and 2018, accounting for 18% of the 17 driving-related deaths that occurred during this period. Drug poisoning caused casualties as well, which we can see from the drug overdose mortality rate of 11 deaths per 100,000 population for 2016-2018. This shows us without a doubt that substance abuse is present in Scott County, and the best option for someone who wants to overcome their addiction is treatment. Drug and alcohol abuse do not discriminate; they can affect anyone. For example, it can happen that those working in the medical & legal field fall into the trap of substance abuse. These people work tirelessly every single day to help people get back to their healthy selves, which means they face countless stressful situations and are put under a lot of pressure. Whatever the reason is for such a person to get hooked on alcohol and/or drugs, they should get the help they need. To that effect, there are treatment programs for legal & medical professionals, and the substance abuse specialists that work in such programs will know exactly how to help these people recover from their addiction, so that once they complete treatment, they can go back to doing their job, while being drug-free.
