In our mission to bring substance-use prevention education to every child, SUPE is expanding its reach beyond borders and into communities around the world. Today, we are proud to deliver our lessons in Côte d’Ivoire, working directly with students of all ages to empower them with accurate, practical, and culturally relevant knowledge. Our goal is simple: to help young people make informed decisions, support educators and families, and build healthier, safer communities.
On November 6, 2024, SUPE (Substance Use Prevention Education) officially launched its prevention program in Côte d’Ivoire, marking a significant milestone in the organization’s international expansion into French-speaking Africa. Under the leadership of Justin Kouassi, SUPE’s prevention curriculum is now being delivered in French to young people across the country, bringing evidence-based substance use prevention education to communities that need it most.
Since launching just over a month ago, the response has been remarkable. Justin and his team have already reached hundreds of students, delivering interactive, age-appropriate prevention education that empowers young people with the knowledge and skills to make healthy choices. The program’s proven curriculum, which has achieved recognition as a National PTA School of Excellence in the United States and is now making a powerful impact in West Africa.
The early results demonstrate the universal relevance of SUPE’s evidence-based approach. Students across Côte d’Ivoire are engaging enthusiastically with the material, asking thoughtful questions, and developing critical thinking skills about substance use risks. Teachers and administrators have expressed their appreciation for a program that addresses prevention in a culturally sensitive, educational manner that resonates with their students.
SUPE is proud to partner with Justin Kouassi and grateful for his dedication to protecting young people in Côte d’Ivoire through education and prevention.

While our impact can be measured in lessons delivered, schools reached, or students trained, what matters most to us are the lives behind those numbers. Every child, every parent, and every teacher carries a story, and it is these real, personal transformations that show the true heart of our work. Our program is built on relationships, trust, and genuine human connection, and the voices of those we serve reflect that far more than statistics ever could. Below are some of the stories shared by families, educators, and partners whose experiences remind us why we do what we do: to stand with young people, to support them, and to help them make safer, healthier choices for their future.

Since the alcohol-prevention session led by SUPE, I’ve learned that alcohol and cigarettes, including vaping, have harmful effects on the lungs and can reduce life expectancy.
Thanks to this information, I’ve begun to better control my consumption and make more responsible choices for my health.
I sincerely thank SUPE for this initiative, which helps me make better decisions every day.
