In our mission to bring substance-use prevention education to every child, SUPE is expanding its reach beyond borders and into communities around the world. Today, we are proud to deliver our lessons in Kenya, working directly with students of all ages to empower them with accurate, practical, and culturally relevant knowledge. Our goal is simple: to help young people make informed decisions, support educators and families, and build healthier, safer communities.
Our prevention efforts in Kenya began on September 10, 2025, when Isaac Mbugua from Awake Christian, in partnership with APECK, introduced our established school-based program into the country and adapted it to the needs of Kenyan students. Drawing on his first-hand experience working with local schools and youth organizations, Isaac ensured that our proven prevention framework was implemented in a way that reflects the unique cultural, social, and educational context of Kenyan communities. From day one, he focused on listening to students, understanding their realities, and tailoring the delivery of each lesson to match their lived experiences. This grounded, experience-driven approach allowed the program to gain traction quickly, and in a short time, the impact has been felt across classrooms, families, and partner schools. By combining a globally tested curriculum with local insight and continuous student feedback, we have strengthened trust, relevance, and effectiveness, empowering young people with accurate information, critical-thinking skills, and the confidence to make healthy decisions.

Our School Program
Our school program doesn’t focus on telling students what to do. Instead, we believe that children are most successful when they are given accurate information, practical tools, and the opportunity to develop their own judgment. By helping students gather facts, think critically, and build confidence in their decision-making skills, we empower them to make informed choices about drugs and alcohol on their own. Our goal is not to dictate behavior, but to equip students with the knowledge and self-assurance they need to make safe, healthy decisions throughout their teenage years and beyond.
We base our results on the feedback we got directly from 32900+ students.

While our impact can be measured in lessons delivered, schools reached, or students trained, what matters most to us are the lives behind those numbers. Every child, every parent, and every teacher carries a story, and it is these real, personal transformations that show the true heart of our work. Our program is built on relationships, trust, and genuine human connection, and the voices of those we serve reflect that far more than statistics ever could. Below are some of the stories shared by families, educators, and partners whose experiences remind us why we do what we do: to stand with young people, to support them, and to help them make safer, healthier choices for their future.

Dear Marcel,
I just wanted to reach out and share something with you. My child, who’s in grade 6, was going down a path that worried me he had started using drugs after seeing his peers I was at a loss, not knowing how to help them. But then we came across your video, and something clicked. After watching it, he made a change and stopped using drugs altogether. I am grateful for the impact your message had on my child’s life.
Thank you,
Mrs. Caroline

I would like to express my sincere appreciation to SUPE for the Drug Abuse Prevention Program. As a parent, I have seen significant positive changes in my children since they participated in the sessions.
Firstly, the program greatly improved their awareness about the dangers of drug and substance abuse. They are now able to clearly articulate the risks involved and understand how drugs can affect their health, future, and relationships. This level of awareness has strengthened their decision-making skills and helped them become more responsible.
Secondly, the interactive approach used in the sessions made it easy for them to engage and openly discuss issues that they would normally shy away from. They frequently share what they learned at home, especially the lessons on peer pressure, making positive choices.
Thirdly, the educational drug-abuse awareness videos you have created and shared. As a parent, I have seen how impactful these videos have been for my children.
The content is clear, relatable, and age-appropriate, which has made it easy for them to understand the dangers of drug and substance abuse. The visuals and real-life scenarios used in the videos captured their attention and sparked meaningful conversations at home about making safe and healthy choices.
These videos have not only increased their knowledge but also strengthened their confidence to resist peer pressure. They now talk openly about the consequences of drug use and demonstrate a better understanding of how to protect themselves and their friends.
Thank you for your dedication to safeguarding the wellbeing of our children. I look forward to future programs and continued collaboration.

As a parent, there’s no greater joy than seeing my child grow into a responsible and informed individual. Our son recently had the opportunity to learn about drug prevention through SUPE’s video program, and I couldn’t be more grateful. The videos were engaging, informative, and most importantly, they really resonated with my child. Since watching them, I’ve noticed a significant shift in his attitude towards drugs – he’s more aware of the risks and consequences, and he’s made better choices as a result. I’m so thankful to SUPE for providing such a valuable resource to our community. Their program has been a game-changer for our family, and we’re confident it can do the same for others.

Working with SUPE has been one of the most impactful and fulfilling experiences of my career. I have had the privilege of engaging directly with children and young people, creating safe spaces where they can learn, ask questions, and share their struggles without fear of stigma. Through school outreaches, community forums, mentorship programs, and parental engagement sessions, I have supported young people in understanding the risks of substance use, building resilience, and making healthy choices.
My role has strengthened my skills in communication, counselling, and youth empowerment. I have facilitated life-skills sessions, developed educational materials, and collaborated with teachers, parents, and community leaders to create a supportive environment for young people. Witnessing positive behavior change—such as improved decision-making, increased self-awareness, and the willingness to seek help—has been deeply rewarding.
This experience has also taught me the importance of empathy, patience, and cultural sensitivity. Each child and youth carries a unique story, and meeting them where they are has helped me become a more effective advocate for prevention and early intervention. Overall, working in this field has not only allowed me to contribute to healthier, drug-free communities, but has also shaped my passion for empowering the next generation.
Thank you for the opportunity to work with SUPE
