Talbot County is a county that can be found in the state of Maryland. Home to an estimated population of around 37,000 people as of 2019 according to the United States Census Bureau, Talbot County is one of the smallest counties in the state. But even being sparsely populated is not enough to avoid the wrath of the country's drug epidemic, which has been taking lives even in rural areas at alarming rates. From 2015 to 2017 there were 26 drug deaths in Talbot County according to a report published by County Health Rankings. This shows just a glimpse of the number of people affected by substance abuse in the area each year, as deaths are only a very small fraction of this total. But these people still have a chance to be helped before they meet the same fate and become a statistic. Each death could have been avoided if they had gotten proper help before it was too late. This is why you should never ignore signs of drug use waiting for someone to be "ready". If they accidentally overdose before ever being ready, you will regret not doing everything possible to save their life. Intervention works when used properly to help convince the person of why they need help.
