Transitional Housing Programs for Drug & Alcohol Addiction in Alabama

Transitional housing in Alabama is a supportive and temporary type of accommodation, which does help bridge the gap between homelessness and permanent housing. Typically, a transitional home will help people get out of homelessness and address the problems that led to their homelessness. A transitional home can also be a place where someone who has overcome addiction can stay, such as a homeless addict. Most transitional homes will have a set length of stay, however; each organization that provides transitional homes will have different rules in place. Transitional homes in larger cities are often mobile, but there are still situated and dedicated buildings or houses for transitional living. The purpose of transitional living is to maintain a safe and structured environment. Many of the residents in Alabama, who are living at a transition home will be overcoming some type of trauma. For example, it is not uncommon for families who were once homeless, to be living at a transitional home, while they find more permanent housing.
