Transitional Housing Programs for Drug & Alcohol Addiction in the District of Columbia

Transitional housing programs can be dedicated buildings or homes, but in other situations, they may be mobile units. The transitional housing in Washington D.C. is a supportive and temporary home for people making a transition into permanent housing. Typically, individuals or families who have been referred from a shelter will be staying at a transitional home. This will include people who are getting out of homelessness, struggling with mental health, or recovering from addiction. Transitional homes are also used to help youth, such as teens and people in their early twenties. When you are staying in a transitional home, you are working to find permanent housing. The people who operate these homes will often provide basic supportive counseling and will aid in finding other housing.
