UnitedHealthcare works closely with the community and state and provides care to people without an employer’s funded health care coverage, the medically underserved, people who are disadvantaged economically, and provides care solutions to state Medicaid programs. UnitedHealthcare provides close to 26 million Americans with health care services, along with providing health benefit plans to employers and self-employed individuals. UnitedHealthcare is also able to provide services to seniors and retirees, along with members of the military and veterans.
For families and individuals under the age of 64, UnitedHealthcare offers a wide variety of different service plans. Through their UnitedHealthcare business, they are also able to provide Medicaid plans and provide coverage for beneficiaries of Medicaid through several different states. They also offer Medicare advantage plans. Prescription-drug plans, supplement insurance, and also special needs plans all through the UnitedHealthcare business. There are also a variety of products and services available for persons with long-term illnesses and their caregivers.
UnitedHealthcare is quite a large service provider within the United States, and through their different plans and programs, a person can be covered for drug and alcohol rehabilitation. Insurance companies are starting to recognize that addiction is an ever-growing problem and impacts people from all walks of life. Insurance companies now are providing plans that include rehabilitation from drugs and alcohol. This is especially making it easier for people of low-income households and people without much support and collateral to get help for a drug or alcohol addiction. Everyone deserves a chance to beat their addiction, and anything that can be done to make getting help easier will only increase a person’s chances of success.
Drug and alcohol treatment services are included in UnitedHealthcare policies. Preferred provider organizations will offer a wide range of treatment options for addiction. These are more options and services that may be available through UnitedHealthcare plans. For the residential and outpatient drug rehab centers, there may be pre-certification requirements. A UnitedHealthcare plan can cover inpatient hospital detox. This type of treatment option is used to help opioid addicts, severe alcoholics, and anyone requiring a medically supervised withdrawal. These programs take place in the hospital and can last a few days or weeks. But the length of time needed is dependent upon the severity of the addiction. Inpatient hospital detox would be the first step to take prior to attending a drug rehab center.
The insurance plans can also cover outpatient detox. This would be the home detox process, which is not always successful. It may also be done with medications and the addict attending a clinic daily. An outpatient detox process does not always have a high rate of success. There are too many temptations when the withdrawals become too much to handle for the addict. If the addiction is not too severe, outpatient detox may be beneficial. However, you should consider all your options and explore inpatient detox before this solution is considered.
Through a UnitedHealthcare plan, you can have inpatient drug rehab covered. Now, these will be in-network providers, and may not be long-term treatment options. Long-term residential treatment is expensive to pay for. Your co-payment or deductible will be more for this type of treatment. It is best to explore the in-network providers and find out what will be covered. Residential drug rehab is the best option to treat addiction. it provides all the resources an addict needs to overcome his or her addiction. There is often a better success rate with a residential drug rehab center.
Outpatient drug rehab is also covered by UnitedHealthcare plans and policies. However, these will again be in-network providers. If you want an out-of-network service provider, you will be paying for it out-of-pocket. Yet, it may happen when the insurance company can cover some costs. This will be dependent upon the type of plan you have, and what is covered. Addicts who are not struggling with addiction in a severe way will benefit from outpatient treatment. If an addict is still holding down a job and maintaining their family life, this will be a good program for them.

What is private health insurance?
Private health insurance is a form of insurance where the client pays a private entity for their choice of offered health plans. The plan’s cost is known as the premium, which can usually be paid monthly, bi-annually, or annually. These plans are among the most expensive options for healthcare coverage, but they generally offer superior benefits and provider networks than subsidized or free health insurance options. Some private health insurance plans allow clients to seek treatment wherever they choose, without being restricted to a particular region or network.
Does private health insurance pay for substance abuse treatment?
Private health insurance usually gives someone the best chance of getting complete coverage for quality treatment. However, it’s important to remember that private health insurance companies aren’t required to cover services they don’t deem necessary. You will not know the exact amount of coverage until an evaluation is done and the treatment center submits a claim. Make sure you talk to the intake counselor and fully understand how they handle insurance coverage. Doing so can ensure you do not have any unexpected expenses and that treatment will not get cut short.
How do I get private health insurance?
Private health insurance is available directly from the companies that provide it. Or a person may be eligible to join a “group” policy through their employment. Group policies are purchased by employers at special rates and may be offered to eligible employees for less than the same policy would cost an individual.
What if I don't have private health insurance?
Someone without private health insurance or cash payment may be eligible for Medicaid coverage. Or, they might find a free or low-cost treatment program with bed availability. Some programs provide sliding scale payment systems or allow patients to make payment arrangements. There’s almost always a way to find help if someone wants to recover from addiction.
