Wilderness & Adventure Therapy for Drug and Alcohol Abuse in Connecticut

Connecticut Wilderness Drug Treatment Programs

Varieties of treatment methods for addicts and his or her families are important, and throughout most of the United States, there is something that can rehabilitate any type of addiction, regardless of how moderate or severe the problem may be. Some of these treatment methods include wilderness, and adventure-based treatment, which is offered within the state of Connecticut. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Directory do not provide a list of where these types of programs are located within the state but does offer an extensive directory of services available throughout the area.

Are the adventure activities included with traditional therapy?

Yes, typically today, wilderness programs incorporate traditional forms of therapy as part of treatment, and this does include group and family counseling, as the family can play a major role in the rehabilitation of an addict. Much of the therapy is done through experience and cooperative methods, to help a patient build trust, problem-solving methods, and develop a strong ability to remain drug and alcohol-free throughout his or her life. With the patient having to experience challenges and overcoming these challenges, this can be a very therapeutic and successful approach.
