Countless professionals in Wyoming work within the addiction field and are capable of determining what form of addiction treatment will work best. There are both private and state-funded resources within the state capable of helping. Detox is the first step; however, detox alone does not sustain long-lasting recovery and sobriety. Anyone struggling with addiction regardless of the severity must follow through with counseling and or therapy. Underlying issues are unique to each drug user, which is why counseling and treatment are important. Drug Rehab Services provides a list of assessment and or evaluation services for drug or alcohol addiction.

Is an assessment a bunch of forms I fill out, or do I get to speak to someone?

It is really both, typically some type of form is filled out at a clinic, but the patient will get to speak with someone. Online assessments are different altogether; these are just web questionnaires that the person answers, and it will give them a place to start, and where they may want to look for help.

Per the Wyoming Department of Health State Health Assessment, in 2016, approximately 18% of Wyoming adults reported binge drinking. Youth alcohol use and binge drinking have greatly improved over the last decade. Roughly one in five middle and high school students used alcohol in the past month. Approximately 10% of middle and high school students reported binge drinking in 2016. Unfortunately, the patterns of alcohol use in the state contribute to motor vehicle crashes. About 35% of driving deaths involve alcohol, and over 80% of those fatal crashes involve a male driver. The drug overdose death rate in the state has increased over the last decade.

The highest mortality rates for drug overdose in the state are among those aged 35 to 49 and 60 to 64 years old. Also, young adults aged 20 to 34 had a relatively high rate of overdose, but not as high as other age groups. Within the community survey, alcohol and drug use were the most frequently cited health behavior of concern. Substance abuse begins at any age, and the sustained use of drugs or alcohol does increase the chance of overdose and addiction. When searching for treatment options in Wyoming, it is essential to receive the counseling and support your addiction requires. Addiction assessment is an excellent tool to determine the extent of the addiction and what treatment approach is the most effective.
