Many veterans today are battling some form of physical and or mental ailment, which has possibly led them to an addiction of some kind. Veterans Affairs does provide some services and help, but it may not always be enough. The person may have to seek out other forms of help, such as drug and alcohol rehabilitation in the form of residential care or outpatient counseling and therapy.

It is important to help a person both physically and mentally so they can make a full recovery. If an addiction has taken hold, and the person is addicted to illicit drugs or their prescribed medications, they will have to enter a treatment center to help them get over their addiction and find the underlying cause of it. For many veterans, the underlying cause is normally there active service stressor and experiences they had during wartime and fighting overseas. This is not always the case, but it is normally a contributing factor to a service member’s addiction. Drug and alcohol addiction impacts so many people and causes a great deal of pain and anguish for the individual and their family and friends. Finding the right help is very important, and finding the right treatment center in the process will help save his or her life from a future of more pain.
