Progress House Perinatal Residential Program is a live-in recovery and support setting in Camino, California for women (18+), including those who are pregnant or parenting young children, whose substance use and life-controlling behaviors have already begun affecting housing stability, family roles, work, or daily functioning. Set near the Sierra Nevada Mountains, this program provides a structured residential environment where recovery and caregiving responsibilities are lived together, not in separate appointments or brief visits.
A Residential Setting When Real-Life Responsibilities Demand Support
Women typically enter this program when attempts to manage substance use independently haven’t held and the impact on family life, parenting duties, or housing stability has become tangible in daily living. The residential setting allows participants, and their minor children when appropriate, to live on site with 24-hour supervision, room and board, and steady routine, creating space to stabilize and engage in meaningful recovery work while tending to parenting roles.
Recovery Practiced Through Daily Structure and Shared Engagement
Rather than confining recovery to isolated clinical hours, the perinatal program embeds 20+ hours per week of structured treatment into everyday life. Residents participate in individual and group counseling, relapse-prevention planning, parenting and life-skills education, family groups, and self-help support, all within a community of peers facing similar challenges. This shared environment reinforces accountability, coping habits, and personal growth in the context of real responsibilities.
Support That Honors Mothers and Their Children Together
The program recognizes that recovery and caregiving often occur simultaneously. It allows pregnant women to stay from conception through up to 15 months postpartum depending on funding, and accommodates minor children alongside their mothers. Education around parenting, nutrition, emotional regulation, and parenting support is woven into the curriculum so women can build skills that matter for both recovery and family stability.
A Setting for Women Rebuilding Stability Through Routine and Community
Progress House’s perinatal residential program is often used by women who know that substance use has already begun shaping the life they’re still living and who need a structured, immersive residential environment where recovery, caregiving, and daily responsibilities are integrated into routine, shared accountability, and steady community support rather than brief outpatient encounters.
